My Nutritional Goals for 2011

My nutritional goal for this New Year starts and ends with me as I vowed to change my eating habits for good!

Since the birth of my son two years ago, I have often skipped meals, picked chocolate over veggies, have eaten my son’s snacks and choose to drive instead of taking the walk.

In a short period of time, I have managed to dramatically change the way I live.  I am always on the go and rarely take the time out to just stop, relax and take care of myself.

Don’t get me wrong, I do make healthy meals at home.  Both my husband and son eat well. I always manage to include veggies in meals as well as something from each food group. My issue is that I am always trying to get a quick energy boost or quick sugar fix via caffeine or chocolate which doesn't work out too well for me at the end of the day.

I used to be this super healthy, athletic, energetic person.  I know that I need to break these bad habits and get back on the road to healthy eating/living fast.  I needed to find something was healthy, tasty and affordable.

In my quest for good eats, I found McDonald’s Fruit & Maple Oatmeal.

I was first introduced to this bowl of goodness while at an event hosted by McDonald’s where they showcased the latest addition to their breakfast family.  I will admit that I was not a big fan of oatmeal and was skeptical about trying it let alone liking it- but I’m glad I did and I loved it!

This Fruit & Maple Oatmeal is prepared with 100% whole grain oats, light cream, brown sugar (which is optional) and is topped with apples, cranberries and raisins.  The Fruit & Maple Oatmeal is delicious, filling and reasonably priced.

It is everything I was looking for.  I love the fact that it is served all day, is 290 calories and provides me a healthy option on those super stressful days when I’m craving the box of cookies.

It is also a very convenient on the go meal especially if I’m out and about running errands.
