#SomosFiOS: The Reality of Working from Home
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Verizon FiOS, all opinions are my own.
We have all heard the saying, ‘if mom is happy everyone is happy’. This holds very true in my case as in the case of many parents who constantly fight to find that work-life-family balance.
For me, my balance comes in the form of solid, reliable Internet service provided by Verizon FiOS. This is at the core of making my home run as smoothly as possible.
As a mom of two boys under the age of five who works from home, my daily schedule has to be carefully planned leaving enough wiggle room for the unexpected. I get up early, get my day started by thinking up a crockpot meal to make, check email, read the news and going over my to-day list (5-6 actionable items to be done for the day). Once the boys are up, my focus changes from work to school and play.
Despite school being out, I take the time to go over some lesson plans I found online to get my four and a half year old ready for Kindergarten. As my three-month-old patiently coos, we then go for a nice walk, run errands, or if it is raining (as it’s been in NYC for quite some time now) we turn on the TV put on YouTube dance and jump around.
During lunch, I read them a book on my tablet, print up coloring sheets, letter and number sheets, upload a story or activity from LeapFrog. As the day winds down, it is time another walk and free play once we get back in. This way I can continue to work guilt-free until my husband comes home to help keep the peace.
The picture on the left describes most of my days. Baby sleeping, coffee, water, eight tabs open and email being drafted all using one hand.
The common denominator in my balancing act is connection. Solid, reliable Internet connection allows me to get things done and cut the unnecessary noise.
I live my life in the cloud and always being able to find what I need no matter what part of the house I am in or on what device I am on without hassle makes me extremely happy, keeps me worry-free and provides me the time to spend it where it matters most, my family.
