With the new school year at out heels, I've decided to share this post I created last year to help parents stay on budget.
Are you looking for ways to save on school supplies and clothing this year? Check out these 5 tips that may help you stretch your dollar.
1.Take an inventory of what you already have on hand and make a list of what is needed.
2.Be sure to create a budget. Go in with a plan of attack and stick to it. If it's not on the list don't buy it!
3.If you must buy supplies, keep an eye out for deals. Be sure to check out sales advertised in the paper or online.
4. Shop end-of-summer sales. Retailers are trying to push all their summer merchandise out to make room for the new Fall line. If you do not want to wait until the end of summer, go shopping at Marshalls and T.J.Maxx which offer up to 60% off prices every day on designer and brand name styles.
5. If you can hold off on shopping, take advantage of Labor Day and Columbus Day sales. By this time retailers are trying to push out the first phase of the Fall line with the second phase and slowly gearing up for the holiday season.
Cool tip - Check to see if your child's backpack has a lifetime warranty. Companies like Jansport will often repair broken zippers or completely replace damaged backpacks for free. Make sure the product is registered in order to take advantage of the lifetime warranty.
