A Week With The Plasma Purple 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage

A Week With The Plasma Purple 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage

When I first saw the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage DE in plasma purple, my first reaction was, WOW, that’s purple!

My second reaction was, 'this it would be the perfect vehicle to let my hair down, and head out on a road trip with my girlfriends.' But then I was snapped back to reality as I was facing 20-degree temps, black ice, and my road trip buddies consisted of my husband, a six-year-old and an almost two-year-old.

Although the color was cool and the vehicle compact, it did not have the feel or features that I expected a 2015 model vehicle to have.

The vehicle had limited offerings but had some things going for it. And although the Mirage is not a family vehicle, it was by far the best vehicle to install a car seat. It was fuel-efficient. We drove throughout the five boroughs the entire week and did not have a need to fill the tank. And its low priced is eye-catching. Starting at just about $13,000, for the DE model, it includes basic features like automatic climate control.

And for an additional $1,200 or so, you can upgrade to the ES model.  The upgrade offers the Mitsubishi Multi-Entertainment System (MMES) with navigation, many entertainment options, a rearview camera, and other functions, which is a steal compared to its competitors.

For the model I had, it served its purpose. But I will say that the lack of features for a 2015 vehicle, lack of trunk space and rather loud powertrain made my did not like list.
