With exactly a week left before we bid 2011 adieu, I wanted to share the amazing experience I had as a Latina Smart Ambassador for the past few months.  After being selected to be an Ambassador, my job (along with the other Latina Smart Ambassadors) was to judge a scholarship fund that would award $25,000 in scholarships to young Latina’s throughout the country.

Throughout the process, I had the pleasure of being a part of a team of incredibly talented individuals who had the task of moderating and reviewing each application (from thousands that were submitted) to determine who the top 20 finalists would be.  This by far was the hardest assignment I have ever been given.  Every applicant was not only talented, hardworking, gifted and Latina Smart, but also incredibly motivated and determined to overcome whatever obstacle stood in their way to accomplish their dreams.

For me, the Latina Smart Ambassador experience is one that I will forever be grateful for.  Being able to get a glimpse at the lives and experiences of other Latina Smart women throughout the 50 states and from different nationalities was amazing to me.  Watching the videos and reading the stories made me feel proud, humbled and honored to be a part of something so rewarding.
